On January 4th, 2009, Dance Hall Reggae Super-Star Craig "Serani" Marsh and his road manager Julian Jones-Griffith, were robbed by gun point just after his performance in a stage show in St. Croix. Police have already arrested and charged two suspects with the crime. The suspects are being held on bail for $135,000 USD each. However, police believe that the two promoters (Ayinde and Scavvy)responsible for putting together the event, may have something to do with the robbery. More investigation into the incident is underway. Julian Jones-Griffith, Serani's road manager, said that the whole incident had to be a set up by the promoters. Julian says that "the promoters drooped them off after the show just outside of the hotel area, but not directly in front of the hotel, which he later recalls feeling suspicious about. After exiting the car, two armed assailants, approached them and lured them inside the hotel, where they were forced to lie face-down on the ground, and robbed of their jewelry, wallets and money. Police are currently investigating a woman who is believed to have saw the two armed suspects. This whole incident is viewed as an embarassment to the progressive direction of Reggae music.
